The Solar Project

Solar-powered charging of mobile phones holds great potential for the small villages in Kondoa, and can generate significant income for smallholder entrepreneurs.  It also addresses a significant need in rural areas that are not connected to the national grid, saving people time and money they would otherwise spend travelling to charge their phones.  We have set up a program where tourists can bring solar powered chargers and lights to small villages in Kondoa.

In return you will spend the afternoon with a family who will show you the village.  You will eat lunch together and get to know the community in an intimate setting.  A short irangi lesson will be set up for you so that you can say a few words to the community in their tribal language of irangi.
